Not faking after all...

About three months ago Blake and I decided to run a 1/2 marathon this August. As part of our training we ran a 10k on the 4th of July. The day after the run Blake began having some major pain in his right leg. He waited a week to go see the doctor and get some pain medication. After being on the meds long enough to realize they weren't helping he went back to the doctor. The doc prescribed a stronger drug but Blake was still in horrible pain. Nothing seemed to give him any relief.

So after barely being able to walk for the past month Blake got a MRI done today on his lower back and leg. Good news is we finally know what is wrong. Blake has been suffering from a herniated disc. The bad news is that he will definitely not be running any time soon. He is going in for a steroid shot on Monday afternoon and we're hoping that will fix the problem. If not, it could mean he will be getting a little surgery done in the near future.

Blake sure outdid himself this time. If he was really that afraid of me beating him in this race he could have just asked me to slow down. It would have been a lot less painful; physically anyway. Geesh.

That is so sad. I have 7 herniated discs but only 2 cause me pain but it is pretty constant everyday. You do get used to it though. I hope the shot works!!

I am sorry to hear that! Maybe a swim marathon would work.

Ouch! No fun... and I was so looking forward to another picture of you two with a "foot" medal around your necks. Bummer. Let us know how the shot goes.
