Potty training update

After waking up with a cold (and no patience) yesterday, I decided to hold off on the whole potty training thing. Sadie wore a diaper all day yesterday but watched Elmo's Potty Time at least 3 times. I did decide to buy her own potty since what we were using was just a seat cover. I thought maybe she would be less intimidated with something more her size. Plus, it plays really cool music every time she is successful.

Today the panties went on at 8:00 am. For the next half hour we sat on the potty maybe 20 minutes. While she sat on her throne we sang songs and read books. Nothing. We ate breakfast, had a few false alarms and by about 9:00 had the first accident. I gave her a bath, put more panties on and we played until nap time without anymore accidents. I went ahead and put on a diaper before she went into her crib because I'm not in the mood to wash sheets. Lazy, I know. Plus, Blake has the rest of the day off and we're heading to Ikea and I REALLY don't feel like doing anymore potty training today.

So, we're still without anything making it into the potty. Maybe we'll start again next week...

Props to you for sticking with it as long as you have! Like I said before, I will need all the advice I can get soon. It's good to know how others deal with it and what works and what doesn't. Don't give up!!!

Have you thought about using Pull-Ups to start out? I know you hear the pros and cons of using them. A lot of people told me not to use them. But for the first couple of days (and during nap/nighttime for a couple of weeks) they worked great for James. It was nice to pull them up and down like underwear, but until James sort of got the hang of it, I wasn't constantly changing wet underwear. After a couple of days, we switched over to the real thing and he was much better prepared. Anyway, just my two cents worth...

So, I found your blog through Carlee's, she's a friend of mine. I just have to say that I read your "about me" and you sound exactly like me! I mean, everything you said is me! Crazy! Anyway, I too am struggling with potty training right now! My son will only go if he isn't wearing anything!! So, if I ever find something that works, I'll let you know. I hope you don't mind me reading your stuff and commenting. You are welcome to view my blog at www.beckysquire.com
