My 36 Natural Highs

I got an email from Cathy, my mother-in-law, today with the subject of "Natural Highs." Normally email forwards don't touch me the way this one did but after reading the list of things that can make someone happy, I felt happy. I'm going to blame it on me being pregnant.

So, I have decided to make my own list of "Natural Highs." Warning: this list may be a bit sappy.
  1. Waking up in the morning to the sound of Sadie playing in her crib.
  2. Eating brownies right when they get out of the oven.
  3. Watching my wedding video.
  4. Telling the truth even when it's hard.
  5. Finishing a good book.
  6. Going to the pool and getting a tan.
  7. Watching snow fall at night.
  8. Having a deep, motivating conversation about the gospel.
  9. Eating steak with Blake. (I don't think that there are two people who enjoy a good steak as much as we do.)
  10. Wearing a new outfit.
  11. Having someone play with my hair.
  12. Working out.
  13. Cleaning the house. Actually, the high comes from knowing the house is clean.
  14. Looking forward to visitors from out of town.
  15. Writing a good blog post.
  16. Successfully trying out a new recipe.
  17. Driving through the canyon in the fall.
  18. Finding out that I'm pregnant!
  19. A date with Blake.
  20. Holding Sadie's hand while walking together.
  21. Watching fireworks.
  22. Donuts.
  23. Listening to a men's choir.
  24. Driving with the windows down and not caring about my hair.
  25. Taking a nap.
  26. Laughing. I'm talking a genuine, uncontrollable laugh.
  27. Feeling Madison move.
  28. Hearing Sadie say a new word that I had no idea she knew.
  29. Hearing Blake say that he's done working for the day.
  30. Walking to the gas station to get a cherry ICEE on a hot day.
  31. Listening to Christmas songs.
  32. Getting a package in the mail.
  33. Meeting someone new that I have a lot in common with.
  34. Walking out of the dentist's office knowing I don't have to go back for another 6 months.
  35. Finding out at the cash register that the thing you're about to buy is on sale.
  36. Making lists like this.
