That said, I have been buying the same mascara since my Mom let me make the transition from clear to black. MAX Factor Stretch and Separate is my favorite. It seems to work best for my eyelashes. Sure, just like razors, I have been lured into buying the new fancy mascaras that have come out but I have always gone back to my $5.94 tube. I'm happy with it. It stays on the best, it doesn't clump and it really does stretch and separate.
I was at Wal-Mart a few weeks ago and remembered I was out of mascara. I went to the makeup aisle and of course, my usual stuff was out. I remembered that someone once told me that Great Lash by Maybelline was the best selling mascara. It's the one with the green and pink tube. It was $1 cheaper than I usually spend, so I put it in my cart. Boy, have I been disappointed. It's messy when I put it on because it gets all over my eyes and it's tough to wash off. What's weird though is it's easy to smudge and if I get teary eyed at all, I look like I have a black eye. It doesn't make my eyelashes look any longer. Instead, it seems like it makes them look shorter and thinner.
My conclusion is that maybe mascara is like shampoo. Everyone's lashes are different and they do well with different mascaras. Maybe Great Lash is the Herbal Essences of mascara. It's popular because it's cheap and does the job for most people's lashes.
What kind of mascara do you use?

I am a Max Factor girl all the way! This is the only mascara that washes off with ease and doesn't leave me looking like a raccoon
I use Flexistencils by Lancome. (I think that's how it's spelled . . .) But maybe -- just maybe -- I'll try that Max Factor stuff. Thanks for the tip, Lindsey!
Oh I am so excited to try Max Factor! I use "washable waterproof" by Cover Girl because it is easy to wash off but stays on like waterproof. I am pretty happy with it, but I have been itching for a change.
It must be in the genes or something, because I'm a Max Factor girl, too. I've used the Great Lash stuff in a pinch, but I have had the same results...teary eyed smearing all over the place! I think I'll stick with Max
Lindsey,
I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to find the Max Factor Mascara but I couldn't find it. Is it made by Cover Girl? If so, what does the tube look like? I went up and down the aisles 3 times and couldn't find anything that said Max Factor on it. I really want to try this mascara, because I want something good. I have always used Mary Kay and I am getting really sick of it. It's clumpy and it runs down my face when my eyes get wet.
Lancome. Only Lancome.
Carlee,
I'm shocked! Although, I couldn't find it at Target the other day either. I'm wondering what's going on! Max Factor is it's own brand. There should be a section for it where you buy make up. The picture on my post is what it looks like. They should have a few different kinds if you find it and you really can't go wrong with any of them. I linked to their website so maybe that might help. I'll check my Wal-Mart this week and see if they carry it. Is anyone else having problem finding it?
Lindsey,
I will try to look for it at a different Wal-Mart. I have noticed that not all Wal-Mart's carry the same things. For example, the one by me does not carry Reeses Pieces, Heath Bars, or Skor Bars. The one by my mom, on the other hand, carries all sorts of Reese's Pieces. Weird huh? I will just try another Wal-Mart and see what I can find. Thanks for your help.
I checked on their website and it looks like only Walmarts and Kmarts carry it now. There's even a spot where you can type in your zipcode and it tells you the stores around that carry it. Hopefully you won't have to hunt too much to find it! Good luck!
